Sigma Lithium shares were higher Wednesday morning after the company said it is evaluating strategic alternatives.
At 9:58 a.m. ET, shares trading in Toronto were more than 14% higher at 49.75 Canadian dollars ($33.76).
The Canadian lithium producer said it received several proposals for the entire company, but also for its subsidiary in Brazil, Sigma Mineracao, as well as the Grota de Cirilo project in Brazil.
Sigma said the interested parties were in the energy, auto, batteries and lithium refining industries, and that Sigma said the proposals from them differ in nature and structure.
The company is still in the process of negotiations and reviewing the proposals.
Sigma said it plans to conclude the strategic process this year, but cautioned there can be no assurance of any particular result or outcome.
