Delek US Holdings reported an operational disruption and excessive emissions at its oil refinery in Big Spring, Texas.
“A process upset during startup resulted in emissions that exceeded the sulfur dioxide 500 pounds per 24-hour Reportable Quantity,” the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The gas emissions happened Sunday morning, lasting about four hours total, according to the refinery.
The 73,000-barrel-a-day Big Spring refinery is located in west Texas, 44 miles east of Midland.
